Task 3 - Sourcing and analysing primary data through user testing
For this task, we were asked to evaluate the user experience of a chosen design using primary research. This involved conducting user testing and/or interviews, documenting the data collected, analysing and categorising the findings, and presenting a critical review of the design using evidence from the participants.
Idea & Process
I chose to research AirPods after hearing my mum complain about using them, which made me curious about whether age affects the way people experience the product. I selected three participants from different age groups: 21, 38, and 58.
Each participant completed the same basic AirPods tasks while I observed how they interacted with the product. I then conducted short follow-up interviews to understand the reasons behind their behaviour. This allowed me to compare usability, confidence in fit, and interaction habits across the three age groups.
